The Pracetas underwent severe austerities within the sea to carry out the order of their father. They stood underwater for ten thousand years and recited the prayers given to them by Lord Shiva. By doing this they were able to satisfy Lord Vishnu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who appeared before them. 

Riding on the shoulder of Garuda, the Lord seemed like a cloud resting on the summit of Mount Meru. The transcendental body of the Lord was covered with attractive yellow garments, and His neck was decorated with the Kaustubha-mani jewel.
