Myrrh (mir), like Frankincense, is a natural aromatic resin. It is blend of an essential oil and a resin produced by thorny trees of the genuis Commiphora. Generally devotees burn some charcoal and place the myrrh resin on the charcoal and then it produces a wonderful fragrance that will create a very auspicious atmosphere. In addition to its aromatic uses myrrh also has many healing and medical properties and it is used in Auyrvedic, Traditional Chinese and even Western medicine.
