The large Deities were installed in August 1971. In this photo They wear flower outfits, and throughout the year They are offered different, elegant dresses three times every single day, because Srila Prabhuapda encouraged high standards of opulent worship befitting Dvaraka.
At the installation of the small Deities, in July 1969, Dvarakanaatha had no flute. So Srila Prabhupada broke a stem off a flower and inserted this into the Lord's hands as a token flute.
Rukmini, a divine princess, had heard of Sri Krishna's beauty, strength and other find qualities, and made up her mind that He would be her husband. Her brother was envious of the Lord and forbade her to marry Him. So she sent Krishna a letter that read: "Ever since I heard about You, my Lord, I have become completely attracted to You. Without fail please come before my arranged marriage with Sisupala and kidnap me. If you do not show me this favour, I will give up my life by fasting. Then perhaps in my next life I shall be able to obtain You.
