The Story of Alarnatha

"The present day temple was built about 1,100 years ago and the worship them was performed by South Indian Brahmins. Because the Pujaris were disciples in the line of great spiritual teachers known as the Alvars, the deity because known as Alvarnatha or "Lord of the Alvars", which in time became known as Alarnath.
