About this item
"O Arjuna, in all the three planetary systems, this earth is especially fortunate, for on earth is the town of Vrindavan. And there the gopis, the cowherd girls, are especially glorious because among them is My Srimati Radharani."
In 1971, Srila Prabhupada wrote to the New Orleans devotees and encouraged their Sankirtana activities: chanting the holy names in public, distributing Back to Godhead magazines, and travelling to universities with Krishna's message. Thus the temple acquired its name.
In the summer of 1975, Srila Prabhuapda visited ISKCON New Orleans and its farm in Mississippi. Later, in a letter, he wrote, "The Deity must be very nicely worshipped, dressed and fed, etc. In so doing you will always be peaceful and enlivened."
